After watching 'Human Traffic' (1999, Justin Kerrigan) where the theme of 'Ladism' is portrayed through the characteristics of certain characters, the mis-en-scene and the cinematography etc. I have began to realise that the theme is apparent in my film/sequence also. 'Ladism' is a term applied to a male that is against feminism, as exemplified by the values represented in magazines that one would read such as ZOO, FHM and NUTS. A 'Lad' would also be known for his manly characteristics or mannerisms such as walking aggressively, talking aggressively and not caring about another.
Lad culture is commonly associated with Britpop. Males of the certain culture take on a anti-intellectual position, they love alcohol and violence, a very feminist attitude and see women as sex-objects and don't take well to sensitivity. Part of the post-modern transformation of masculinity Ladism is linked with bands such as Oasis, Pulp and Blur.
